Master Tim Kotlarek is known to most as Mr. K. Mr. K is also a 4th Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. Mr.K was first introduced to the Martial Arts in 1977 under Master Kim Bok Song of Song’s Korean Karate in Maumee, Ohio. After moving to California he later joined the nationally recognized Choong Sil Taekwondo Federation in April of 97'. Mr. K earned his CTF Assistant Instructor certification in 99' and then went on to earn his CTF Instructor certification in 01'. Mr. K is also the CTF's Chief Instructor of the West Coast Region and is responsible for the training of all CTF Instructors on the West Coast as well as the Instructors in Bertram, Texas. Mr.K still continues to train directly under the President and Founder of the CTF Grand Master Robert H. Hardin. Mr. K has received two of the prestigious Choong Sil Awards, which are given only by Grand Master Hardin. In August of 03’under the recommendation of Grand Master Hardin and with the help of Assistant Instructor 2nd Degree Black Belt Mrs. Theresa Bates, Mr.K opened his doors to the Choong Sil Kwan Do School. In 2004 Mr. K took First Place at the West Coast Regional power board breaking competition and at that time with a successful attempt of breaking six boards with no spacers set a CTF record for the most boards to be broken with an inverted knife hand strike. Mr. K also tries to give back to the community by taking time to personally work with people of special needs, he has set aside three classes per week to these students so that they may experience the fascinating world of martial arts. On June 2, 2007 Mr. K was Inducted into the U.S.A. Martial Arts Hall of Fame as the Tae Kwon Do Martial Arts Leader of the Year. In 2008 Mr.K introduced a more direct style of self-defense which he developed known as Choong Sil Kwan Do.
